Extended Eye Test

An extended eye test provides a more detailed and thorough examination of your eyes, that include additional scans and imaging. This helps in identifying subtle abnormalities or structural issues at an early stage.

Myopia Management

If you are struggling with blurred vision, you could have Myopia. We provide a range of non surgical treatments designed to slow the progression of myopia (short-sightedness) in children and young people.

Childrens Eye Tests

Have you noticed a change in your child’s eyesight? We have vast experience in carrying out children’s eye tests which are tailored to your child’s ability and age.

OCT Scan

OCT scans allow our opticians to see beneath the surface of the eye, allowing for a clearer view of your overall eye health.

  • List of Medications: If you take any medications, jot them down or bring a list, as some medications can affect your eyes or vision.
  • Details of Medical History. Any information about eye-related health conditions (e.g. glaucoma, diabetes) or family history of eye diseases can help your optician.
  • Questions or Concerns. Make a note of any specific vision or eye health concerns you’ve been experiencing so you can discuss them during the test.

What is Involved in an Eye Test?

Looking to arrange an appointment with Dyer & Scott? It couldn’t be easier.

Step 1

Arrange an appointment with a member of our experienced team by phone, through our booking portal or by popping into the practice.

Step 2

When you coming in for your appointment you will be greeted by out friendly reception team. Your optometrist will start by asking you a few questions about your eye health, any issues you may be having with your vision or current glasses or contatc lenses.

Step 3

The optometrist carries out the eye test, enabling them to understand more about your vision and eye health.

Step 4

The Optometrist will recommend the best approach based on the results of your eye test. This may include advising on lifestyle changes to benefit vision, recommending glasses or contact lenses or advising on eye health.

Step 5

First par of glasses or an updated to an existing prescription? Our dispensing Opticians will take you through the options using state of the art instrumentation to ensure the frame and lenses are positioned correctly for a clear comfortable vision.

Useful Information

At Dyer & Scott, we offer a number of ways to book. Simply pop in to your local branch, give us a call, or use our easy online booking system and choose a time that suits you. 

Eye test should be carried out every two years for most people. Following your first visit, we may recommend that a different frequency is appropriate based on your eye health.

Some people such as those over 60 will qualify for a free NHS eye test. Visit our NHS examinations page to find out if you are entitled to a free NHS-funded sight test or an optical voucher.

Yes. Whilst an OCT scan is not included in a standard eye test, we include an OCT scan as part of our extended eye test. We highly recommend this service.
