Eye Care Questions
Your optician will use a variety of tests and equipment to get a clear overall view of your eye health. We also have specialist equipment available for extended eye tests and children’s eye tests.
The time it will take to carry out an eye test depends on the type of examination being carried out and your needs. As a general rule, an eye examination will take up to 45 minutes, with an additional 30 -45 minutes for dispensing if glasses are required
Eye test should be carried out every two years for most people. Following your first visit, we may recommend that a different frequency is appropriate based on your eye health.
Some people such as those over 60 will qualify for a free NHS eye test. Visit our NHS examinations page to find out if you are entitled to a free NHS-funded sight test or an optical voucher.

Yes, a recent eye test will be required to recommend the best contact lenses for your plan. With our standard package, all your routine eye tests are included in the price so there is no need to worry.
There is evidence that MiSight contact lenses, Ortho K lenses and myopia management spectacles can be used to slow the progression of myopia. All three options have similar levels of efficacy ranging from 40% to 60~% reduction in progression over 1-3 years.
Common symptoms of myopia include blurry vision when looking at distant objects, squinting, headaches, and difficulty seeing clearly while driving or playing sports.
Prolonged screen time may contribute to eye strain, but it is not a direct cause of myopia. However, outdoor activities are associated with a reduced risk of developing myopia.
